Arab League representatives have called for punitive measures against Israel following genocidal attacks in Gaza. In a statement issued after an emergency meeting in Cairo, the League emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to stop Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people, including forced displacement and ethnic cleansing.
The representatives condemned the brutality of the attacks, particularly in northern Gaza, where Israel is accused of trying to depopulate the area. They criticized the U.S. for providing military aid to Israel and called for holding Israeli officials accountable through measures like suspending participation in the U.N. General Assembly and pursuing legal action in international courts.
The League urged the enforcement of sanctions, such as suspending Israel’s U.N. General Assembly participation and labeling illegal settler organizations as terrorist entities. They also supported a genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice and urged the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders.
The meeting followed escalating violence in Gaza and ongoing Israeli military actions despite a U.N. Security Council resolution for cease-fire. The Israeli offensive has led to thousands of deaths, injuries, and displacement in Gaza.
