Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde to Contest Assembly Elections from Kopri-Pachpakhadi Constituency
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is set to contest the assembly elections from Kopri-Panchpakhadi constituency in Thane city as Shiv Sena released its first list of 45 candidates. The list includes 37 sitting MLAs who defected alongside Shinde last year and four new candidates.
The Maratha community dominates the list, with three women candidates, including Manisha Waikar, contesting from Mumbai’s Jogeshwari (East). State cabinet members like Gulabrao Patil and Deepak Kesarkar will also contest in the upcoming polls.
Sada Sarvankar will fight from Mahim in Mumbai, along with kin of several MLAs. The BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP are yet to finalize their seat-sharing deal, with BJP releasing a list of 99 candidates earlier. Shiv Sena’s candidate list highlights the party’s commitment to a diverse representation in Maharashtra politics.
