IDF says 6 Al Jazeera journalists are Hamas, Islamic Jihad militants, shares names
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) found documents in Gaza linking six Al Jazeera journalists to Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). The IDF claims that Anas al-Sharif, Alaa Salameh, Hossam Shabat, Ashraf al-Sarraj, Ismail Abu Omar, and Talal al-Arrouqi are affiliated with militant groups while posing as journalists.
The IDF identified specific roles for each journalist within the militant groups, such as leader of a rocket-launching unit, propaganda division deputy head, and sniper. The military released documents showing personnel spreadsheets, training programs, contact directories, and salary records as proof of the journalists’ military involvement.
The IDF emphasized that these documents unequivocally prove the journalists’ connections to Hamas and Islamic Jihad. They pointed out the involvement of Hamas terrorists in Al Jazeera, calling the documents evidence of such affiliations.
