As the November 16, 2024 governorship election in Ondo State approaches, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is urging journalists to report factually and impartially to prevent the spread of fake news that can incite violence. Sam Olumekun, representing INEC, emphasized the importance of the media in promoting democracy and ensuring a fair election process.
Olumekun also announced the commencement of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection across all local councils in the state, reinforcing that INEC is working with security agencies to guarantee safety during the election. Meanwhile, PDP candidate Agboola Ajayi promises to transform the state within 10 months if elected, addressing concerns about its backwardness and outlining policies for growth.
