Donald Trump’s devotees are furious at Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, accusing the conservative of betraying the next president by allowing his criminal sentencing to go ahead.
Barrett — who was put on the bench by Trump — joined Chief Justice John Roberts and the court’s three liberal justices to deny his request to halt sentencing after his conviction for business fraud involving hush money payments.
He was handed an unconditional discharge Friday., meaning his conviction stands but he receives no additional penalty.
Newsweek reported Friday that social media channels were buzzing with anger over Barrett’s perceived sleight.
“In my opinion, Amy Coney Barrett has been the biggest disappointment from President Trump’s first term in office. I was completely fooled by this closet liberal!” wrote Vince Langman, an outspoke Trump supporter.

Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, wrote, “Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett joined with their leftist colleagues to allow this unprecedented abuse. The ruling makes no sense…”
And “Ultra MAGA” X user @JamesMo97816813, wrote, “Chief Justice Roberts and Amy Comey Barrett joined with their leftist colleagues Judge Merchan and Alvin Bragg to allow this unprecedented abuse,” the user posted. “The ruling makes no sense … Barrett received threats early on and she has let it control her decisions. TRAITORS.”
Trump, however, thanked the Supreme Court Thursday for their time in making the decision, and for what he said was, “trying to remedy the great injustice done to me by the highly conflicted ‘Acting Justice,’ who should not have been allowed to try this case.”
Barrett has sided with liberal justices several times in rulings made over the past few months. She joined them in temporarily blocking Idaho from banning emergency abortions and disagreed with shielding former President Trump from prosecution for some actions taken while in office.
